The Challenge:
A new customer of Sandmeyer Steel, a heat transfer fabricator, was contacted by one of their clients whose refinery had an emergency shutdown due to broken critical-path equipment. To complete the on-site equipment repair, the fabricator needed 3" discs using Inconel? 625 because of its resistance to elevated temperatures. The shutdown was compromising the customer’s processing capabilities, and their local manufacturer was unable to fulfill their request, as 625 was not a superalloy they typically have on-hand.
The Solution:
The southwest fabricator spent a good portion of the day attempting to source Inconel? 625 locally, hoping to pick up the order the very next day; however, by then it was after normal business hours.
